So today is Thanksgiving. Traditionally celebrated by the United States and Canada. A celebration of the blessings of the harvest, this day also marks the beginning of the holiday season in the US. It has been linked to the 1600’s and a celebration of a good harvest by the Puritans and Pilgrims in Massachusetts.
But Thanksgiving celebrations date as far back as 1536 and are rooted in English puritan tradition during the reign of King
Henry VIII and the English reformation of the church.
Thanksgiving celebrations take place all over the world between mid-September and late November. They come from a range of historical reasoning’s but all are a day for giving thanks and although some are a day to fast most celebrate with a feast.
So, I would like to give thanks today for some of the blessings in my life.
I am thankful for
· My health and the health of my children
· All that I have learned and absorbed this year that has made me stronger and wiser
· The end to a very long battle that has previously drained our finances and emotions
· My many friends and family
· Mark, who strives to be better every day and inspires me to do the same
· The roof over my head and food in my fridge
· The Vegan community who taught me compassion and the truth
Mostly for my sister who amazes me every day with her strength, resilience and sheer motivation to make change and be better. And a special mention to her sponsor Penny who encourages and guides her in a subtle but powerful way and Paul and the kids who stood by Teresa on her very difficult journey.
What about you?
Even if you have no money in the bank, no massive pile of presents for the kids to show off on Facebook, are struggling with your health, business, or the motivation to get out of bed in the morning, there is something in your life to be thankful for.
